Many of our guys come in broken and fearful but are greeted at our doors with kind words of wisdom and big smiles from James. His favorite quote is by George Addair: “Everything you ever wanted is on the other side of fear.”

Hi my name is James Huff, and I work for A New Way to Live
Transitional Living Program. I have been in recovery for last three years and wouldn’t trade it in for anything in the world. When I was in active addiction I was lost, didn’t really know who I was or what I wanted out of life. I had a lot of dreams but really never could follow through on them. Through letting myself and my family and friends down so many times over the years I finally became spiritually bankrupt and couldn’t continue to fight. I went to a 12 step program that taught me about the disease thinking that I suffered from and taught me how to get connected with a higher power of my understanding. That power has relieved me from the grips of addiction.

Since then I have became a Peer Support Specialist, a Peer Support supervisor, and a Community Support Associate. These things were never part of my own plan. My higher power has put me in place to work at one of the greatest programs in the state of Kentucky, in order to help other addicts that struggle from the same disease that I do. This program allows me to share my experience, strength and hope with these guys and let them know that they too can surrender to a power greater then themselves and find freedom from addiction. A New Way to Live, the name speaks for itself. Everyday we witness clients commit to the program and that is exactly what they learn, A New Way To Live!
